Nobody loves Halloween more that the gang at PF4K but whoa. I gotta admit a teeny tiny sigh of relief this year- my 3 guys have been so hopped up on witchy tricks and ghoulish treats that I'm not sure I can take much more... if I could only get all this gull-darned candy out of my house I'd be all set (oh well, I guess I better just eat it).
If your monkeys are as in need of a re-introduction to healthy snacks as mine are, you might want to make plans to check out the 39th Annual Peddler's Village Apple Festival this weekend (11/6 & 11/7) out in Lahaska.
Check out the remaining fall foliage and take in some old-timey demos of apple cider & apple butter production (Yes kiddies, it's true. Believe it or not, this stuff does not just magically appear in the fridge at night... someone actually makes it!) The folks in Peddler's Village have a great weekend planned with live music, jugglers and stilt walkers along with an assortment of artisan booths showing everything from folk art & jewelry to one-of-a-kind pottery and Victorian stained glass. (not to mention the bazillion cute little shops where you could get started on your dreaded c-word shopping).
Better yet, cheer on the brave contestants in the "traditional pie eating contests" with heats set up for all ages. (Dad, are you up for the challenge?? Remember to sign up before 2:45pm)The Apple Pie Eating Contest at 3 p.m., promises to provide lots of laughs and prizes for winners.
