It's the last weekend of April and even though there is a chill in the air the sun is shining and there is so much to do in and around Philly this weekend it's going to be tough to choose!! It's our favorite time of the year with the opening of lots of new fairs and festivals and all sorts of other great fun to be had - enjoy!

Opening Weekend at Sesame Place Saturday April 28th - Sunday April 29th 9:30am - 8pm Langhorn, PA Opening Day 2012 kicks off an exciting season at Sesame Place with a brand new show in Abby’s Paradise Theater. Enjoy a day in our neighborhood with dry and wet fun, plus everyone's favorite furry Sesame Street friends arriving on the parade route in corvettes sponsored by the Liberty Region Corvette Club at 10:15am! 23rd Annual Civil War Re-enactment Saturday April 28th - Sunday April 29th 9am Neshaminy State Park Bensalem, PA The 23rd Annual Civil War Re-enactment Event is the largest Civil War re-enactment on the East Coast outside of Gettysburg. More than 1,000 re-enactors will converge on the park for this event featuring authentic battle re-enactments, camp life scenarios, military & civilian life demonstrations and performances by the Camptown Shakers, a band specializing in Civil War era music. Rain or shine. While admission is free, a voluntary collection will be taken & all proceeds will go toward Civil War preservation efforts. Free admission. Donations welcome.

Bucks County Fair Saturday April 28th and Sunday April 29th 12 Noon Oxford Valley Mall Langhorne, PA This year’s Bucks County Fair will be held outside in the Oxford Valley Mall parking lot near 4th St. & Middletown Blvd., Langhorne, PA. Amusement rides, games, food, attractions, music & more! The fair opens at 5pm Mon.-Fri. and at 12noon on Saturdays & Sundays. 


Junior Ranger Day at Valley Forge National Historic Park Saturday April 28th 10am King of Prussia, PA Head out to Valley Forge National Historic Park on Saturday April 28th at 10am for their Junior Ranger Day. The rag-tag volunteers that arrived at Valley Forge in December 1777 left six months later a disciplined army. Kids ages 6-12 can get a taste of the training that created America’s first fighting force on the historic grounds where it happened 224 years ago. At learning stations set up around the grounds, rangers & educators will help kids enjoy the park in a whole new way.

Linvilla Plant and Flower Festival Saturday April 28th 10am - 6pm Media, PA Bring your whole family for a Fun-filled day at the Linvilla Plant and Flower Festival on Saturday April 28th. Plants and flowers will be on display with expert advice to get your garden off to a great start. We have an excellent selection of annuals, perennials, trees and shrubs with great prices. Makin’ Music will play from 10am-2pm performing familiar songs and originals to get the kids singing, dancing, toe tapping and grooving. Enjoy contests, games and fun for the entire family. Plus take part in free classes and have visits with characters too! Free.

Broomall Fire Company Carnival Saturday April 28th at 3pm Sunday April 29th at 1pm Broomall, PA The Broomall Fire Company 2012 Carnival kicks off this weekend with rides, fun, food and more! Enjoy fun for the whole family at the Broomall Fire Company Annual Carnival event.

International Family Fun Festival Saturday April 28th Montessori Children's House Horsham, PA The International Family Fun Festival takes place this Saturday April 28th starting at 11am at the Montessori Children's House in Horsham with food, arts & crafts, a moonbounce, international performers, face painting, games from around the world, a live & silent auction where you can bid on great prizes and much more! Fairmount Arts Crawl Sunday April 2-6pm Fairmount, PA This Sunday April 29th from 2-6pm one of Philly's best community festivals will be taking place -- The Fairmount Arts Crawl. The Fairmount Arts Crawl is an annual event that attracts over 4,000 residents, visitors, and art lovers alike to the Fairmount neighborhood. Come and stroll down the avenue visiting over 45 different businesses-turned-art-venues housing over 70 installations. Along the way enjoy music, dancing, kids activities, live demonstrations, and so much more!.

Words, Stories, Rhythm and Rhyme with Charlotte Blake Alston Sunday April 29th 2pm Penn Wood High School Theater Lansdowne, PA On Sunday April 29th at 2pm Celebration Theater will present Master Storyteller Charlotte Blake Alston in Words, Stories, Rhythm and Rhyme at 2pm at the Penn Wood High School Theater. For thousands of years people have gathered in caves, around a fire, or on the village square to listen to stories. In keeping with that ancient practice, Master Storyteller Charlotte Blake Alston will share traditional stories and songs from our past including African and American oral and cultural traditions. The program is suitable for all ages.
