Come out to the birthplace of independence to celebrate the 4th at Franklin Square with pie eating contests, live entertainment, food, games, and more fun. Franklin Square will help celebrate Independence Day right here in America’s backyard! Enjoy attractions, a patriotic pet parade, music, kids’ crafts, and more on the fourth of July from noon until 4pm – right after the Independence Day Parade through Historic Philadelphia! Pre-registration for the pie-eating contests and the patriotic pet parade coming soon. Admission to the Independence Day Celebration in Franklin Square is FREE, so bring a blanket and enjoy everything Franklin Square already has to offer like the Philadelphia Park Liberty Carousel, the whimsical playgrounds, and Philly Mini Golf!

Enjoy a picnic at the Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation and celebrate our nation's birthday by hearing the Declaration of Independence and witnessing the crowd's reaction. There is not complete agreement in Chester County but the Patriots are determined to win the crowd by making demonstrations against the king. Activities include hearth cooking, textile demonstrations, long rifle, garden and animal talks. Visitors are welcome to bring a picnic basket lunch or purchase refreshments. Bring a comfortable chair or blanket and enjoy the Fourth as it was celebrated years ago on a true colonial farm in Chester County. Reading from Paine's "The Crisis": 12:30pm & 2:30pm. Reading of the Declaration of Independence: 1pm & 3pm with burning of King George in effigy at 3pm only. Feel free to pick up a quill pen and sign the declaration yourself.
