Weekend Phillyfun Picks

Another Phily heatwave is upon us – how are you and your kiddos going to beat the heat and still have fun this weekend? Check out one of these great family friendly options for hot fun in Philly with the little ones. (Note: If you're heading to any of the outdoor fun events be sure to check websites as many events are already being cancelled due to excessive heat forecasted for Saturday!) 

Shark Fest Adventure Aquarium

Cool off this weekend at the Adventure Aquarium with Shark Fest! See 16 unique shark species throughout 2 million gallons of water, making up the largest collection of sharks on the East Coast. Touch live sharks, walk through a 40-foot suspended Shark tunnel and get up close and personal with some of the coolest creatures on earth – sharks! 6th Annual Phyzz Phest Philadelphia

Come out and celebrate Dr. Physick’s medical achievements and Philadelphia’s history at Society Hill's last free-standing federal-stye mansion the Physic House this Saturday July 7th starting at 1pm. Enjoy Dr. Physick’s birthday with ice cream and cake, taste soda samples brewed from Physic’s original recipe. Plus kids can sign their own Declaration of Independence and much more. Free. Additional $5 for tours of the Physick house.

Head out to beautiful Chadds Ford this Sunday July 8th for free Sunday mornings at the Brandywine River Museum. Admission is free from 9:30am – 12:00 noon for families to tour the galleries and enjoy museum. Free.

Become An Architect! and Summer Block Party

The Delaware Children’s Museum in Wilmington, DE hosts a weekend of exploration allowing kids the opportunity to Become an Architect by making their own blueprint and building structures out of toothpicks and marshmallows on Saturday July 7th and Sunday July 8th from 11:00 - 11:30am. And while you’re there check out the Summer Block Party, a new gallery filled with hundreds of wood and foam blocks of all shapes and sizes.Free with museum admission, $12, ages 1 and under free.


Old Fashioned Ice Cream Festival

This old-fashioned ice cream festival at Rockwood Mansion and Gardens in Wilmington will be serving up tasty cold ice cream for families on Saturday July 7th and Sunday July 8th starting each day at 11am. Enjoy ice cream and frozen treats from local and regional dairies, specialty dishes from local restaurants, Delaware craft brews plus lots of music and kid-friendly activities at the largest family picnic in New Castle County, DE!
