Did you know that the Folk Festival features a chance for kids to take to the stage at The Great Groove Band on the Martin Stage? This three day participatory program allows school-aged children who sing or play a stringed instrument a chance to really connect with fiddle and folk music. Kids can join the band for the weekend, rehearsing intensively with mentor musicians for three days before taking part in a main-stage performance live on Sunday.
Kids and families will also delight in Dulcimer Grove where kids can make hands-on crafts such as a sun catcher, a butterfly, a mask, or a pompom critter, or something else to bring home and remind them of their time at The Philadelphia Folk Festival. Also in Dulcimer Grove are the Give and Take Jugglers - a Festival fixture for more than 30 years, entertaining children of all ages. Kids and families can learn to juggle or just want to watch the magic while taking a break in shady Dulcimer Grove on Saturday and Sunday between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. for these great family-friendly performers.
And, best of all children under age 12 are admitted at no charge to all concerts at the Philadelphia Folk Festival. Children under age 5 are admitted at no charge to the campgrounds. Why not head out to Old Pool Farm this weekend with your kiddos for some family fun folk and fiddle music for all?
