Family Day at the Opera Sponsored by PNC Arts Alive

Join the Opera Company of Philadelphia as it opens its doors to area families on Saturday September 29, 2012 for the PNC Arts Alive Family Day at the Opera from 10am - 1pm for a chance to journey behind the scenes of the Company’s productions and learn about the magic of opera.

Geared towards children aged 5-10 and following up on the enormous success of the inaugural PNC Family Day in 2011, attendees will be permitted to tread the stage of Philadelphia’s historic opera house and explore OCP’s elaborate sets, visit the stars’ dressing rooms, and participate in engaging interactive sessions in the Academy’s rehearsal hall.

Teaching artist sessions will fill the mornings and may just plant the seed for a future diva or director! For this Saturday’s event, Holly Phares will engage all participants in song, while Amy Spencer will show you ways to bring music into your everyday lives and share the power of music with your children.

I took my family to this inaugural event last year and it was SO MUCH FUN! Your little ones will love getting such a behind the scenes look at costumes, dressing rooms, the main stage at the Academy of Music plus get to participate in interactive musical education sessions and no joke, it was possibly the best face paint ever, guys. no joke. (NB, I make no guarantees the same face paint artists will be there but if they are you will NOT be disappointed.)

This event is free of charge to the public, thanks to the generosity of PNC Arts Alive. Registration is required, either online or in person at the event at http://www.operaphila.org/familyday. Don't miss this unique and exciting day of free family fun and culture for all!
