New Year's Family Fun

Happy almost 2013, Everyone!! Why should the kids not get to have some fun on New Year's, too, right? There's lots of great family fun to be had this New Year's holiday in and around Philadelphia. Enjoy one of these great Philadelphia events with your kiddos and ring in the New Year together.

Countdown to Noon

Enjoy the biggest kid-friendly countdown around at the Please Touch Museum 's Countdown to Noon on Monday Dec. 31st with special musical performances by musical guests Louie Miranda and Fandango, a drum ensemble specializing in Latin rhythm. Special appearance by King Countdown, the Museum’s official Marshal of the New Year and more! Countdowns will take place at 12 Noon and again at 1pm to accommodate various nap schedules. Free with admission. Tickets $16 for children and adults. Under 1 year free.

Giggleberry Fair
Peddler's Village

Giggleberry Fair in beautiful Peddler's Village has a day of family fun with Noon Year Year's Eve on Monday Dec. 31st. Featuring kid-friendly countdowns at 12 Noon and 5pm complete with juice toasts, bubblewrap fireworks, a ballooon drop and make your own party hats and noisemakers. Free for kids with an Activity Pass to Giggleberry Fair. Activity Pass New Year's Eve Special $9.95 includes choice of personal pizza or hot dog and soda, too.

3rd Annual Countdown to Noon & Balloon Drop

The 3rd Annual Countdown to Noon and Balloon Drop will take place at the Swarthmore Community Center on Monday Dec. 31st starting at 10:30 with make and take crafts, facepainting, refreshments, and of course the big balloon drop and countdown, too. $7 for child #1, $7 additional for child #2, $3 for each additional child. Adults and children under 2 are free!

New Year's Eve Party

Franklin Square will hold a family friendly New Year's Eve Party on Monday Dec. 31st with music, crafts, kids dance party, a countdown to the "square drop" and a great viewing place for the 6pm fireworks on Penn's Landing. Free.


Family New Year's Eve Party

Independence Seaport Museum
Philadelphia, PA

The Independence Seaport Museum hosts a family (almost) New Year's Eve Party on Monday Dec. 31st surrounding the 6pm fireworks on the Delaware River. The Seaport Museum will stay open late so visitors can enjoy the Family New Year's Eve Party from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Visitors will have access to the Museum's 2nd floor balcony overlooking the river for prime viewing of the fireworks. Festive hats, noisemakers and popcorn will be available (while supplies last) as well as sparkling cider to "toast" the coming New Year. The Family New Year's Eve Party is included with regular Museum admission. $12 for adults, $10 for children, free for children under 2.

The Family New Year's Eve Fireworks show presented by Sugarhouse Casino at 6pm will feature a spectacular light display over the Delaware River at a family friendly time for the little ones. (Fireworks run again at midnight too of coure.) Free.


Family New Year's Day Party at The Kimmel Center

It's the annual New Year's Day Bash at The Kimmel Center on Tuesday Jan. 1st from 10:30am - 6pm. Come out for this FREE family event featuring live music, great food (available for purchase), and kid-friendly fun like balloon artists and face painters. There will be snacks and crafts from Jose Garces for the kids throughout the Kimmel all day. And, the Deedle Deedle Dees take the stage at 12:30pm for a rock-n-roll, hip hop, New Orleans experience great for the whole family. Plus, your family will enjoy the best view of the Mummers Parade -- from the 2nd floor viewing spot while staying warm indoors!

Get your little ones ready for the quintessential Philadelphia New Year's tradition by making their very own Mummers Masks at the Philadelphia Magic Gardens on Tuesday Jan. 1st at 12 Noon. They'll have everything kids need to make their own creation inspired by the glitz of the Garden's mosaicked walls. You’ll all be ready to join a fancy brigade and do the Mummer’s strut! Free with Magic Gardens admission $3 - $7.
