Philly is such a wonderful magical time at the holidays. We have the Macy’s light show, the Comcast Holiday Spectacular, Dickens Village, Christmas Village in Love Park and a multitude of other merry fun for families to enjoy. But Philly is getting even MORE festive with the addition of several new holiday attractions in town. Check out these great new festive phillyfun picks that are sure to become new holiday traditions for you and yours this season:
Skate at the Piazza is a new pop-up skating rink for families at The Piazza at Schmidt’s opening November 30th. Skate at the Piazza will be open for three months from the weekend after Thanksgiving to the end of the Winter Olympics. Don’t miss the grand opening celebration of Skate at the Piazza on December 2nd with a tree lighting ceremony, vendors, live performances and more. Skate rental is only $1 and day passes are $5 for adults and $3 for children.

Skate at the Piazza is located at the Piazza at Schmidt’s 1001 N. 2nd Street in Philadelphia and is open 4-10pm Monday – Thursday; 4-11pm on Friday; 11am – 11pm Saturday and Sunday.

Electrical Spectacle is the newest attraction to come to Philly’s oldest square, Franklin Square. It features a dazzling light show with more than 50,000 lights creating two alternate shows every 30 minutes from 4:30-8:00pm to a Philly holiday soundtrack featuring The Philly POPs conducted by Music Director Emeritus Peter Nero. The Electrical Spectacle is free and open daily through Dec. 31st. Also new at Franklin Square for the holiday season kids can now take a ride on the Lightening Bolt Holiday Express on Saturdays and Sundays through Dec. 31st. Tickets $5/adults, $4 children.

Winterfest Sister Cities Park takes place on three Saturdays in Dec. (the 7th, 14th and 21st) from 11am – 2pm and will transform Sister Cities Park and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway into a Winter Festival with kid-themed fun and holiday activities and yes, Santa! Each of these special Winterfest holiday Saturdays in December will feature a different opportunity for time with Santa Clause. Plus, there will be hot chocolate, shopping, crafts and fun.

Winterfest is located at Sister Cities Park at 18th and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway and takes place Saturday Dec. 7th, Saturday Dec. 14th and Saturday Dec. 21st from 11am – 2pm. Free.
