Enjoy free admission to select museums across the Philadelphia region this Saturday September 27th in honor of Smithsonian Magazine’s Museum Day Live! Annual event. Area museums participating include the Academy of Natural Sciences, the Penn Museum, the African American Museum in Philadelphia, the Battleship New Jersey Museum and Memorial, and more. Be sure to register and download your free ticket for complimentary access to your selected museum before you go! Free.
It’s Pumpkin Palooza this Saturday September 27th and Sunday September 28th from 11am – 5pm at the Garden State Discovery Museum and Springdale Farms! Come out to either location for the annual pumpkin palooza festival with fun and activities the whole family will enjoy including pony rides, a moon bounce, fall crafts, hayrides, corn maze, and the chance to paint a pumpkin too! All day admission is $18 and can be purchased at either location.
Calling all faeries and wizards!! Come celebrate at the Faeries and Wizards Family Festival at the Camden Children’s Garden this Saturday September 27th and Sunday September 28th from 1-4pm. Design your own magic wands, wizard hats and fairy wings and then build your very own fairy garden to take home. Come dressed in your favorite Faerie or Wizard costume and receive a free ride ticket. $6 per person. Free for ages 2 and younger.
On Saturday September 27th head to the American Swedish Historical Museum for the 2nd Annual Drums Along the Delaware Powwow from 10am – 5:30pm. This colorful and lively powwow with a drum call and blessing of the ground will also feature a performance by Pura Fe along with native crafts and food vendors. Family admission (for four) just $10. Adults $5 each, under 12 free.
The 2014 Media Fine Arts & Crafts Festival is happening on Saturday September 27th from 10am – 5pm on State Street in Media. Head out for a day of celebrating the arts with live music, children’s activities, raffles, crafts and more. Free and free parking.
Don’t miss the annual Oktoberfest Celebration of German Heritage at the Sisters of the Holy Redeemer this Saturday September 27th from 12 Noon – 8pm and Sunday September 28th from 12 Noon – 5pm. This free family event will feature German music, dancing, food and beer plus plenty of fall fun for the kids including hayrides, ponyrides, activities, games, crafts and more. Free. Parking donation is welcome.
The annual Apple Festival and Pie Eating Contest returns to Linvilla Orchards in Media PA this Saturday September 27th and Sunday September 28th from 9am – 5pm. This two day event hosted by Makin’ Music honors the venerable apple and the fun of autumn with apple tastings, apple picking, live music, storytime, kids games and activities and character visits too. Free.
Enjoy free admission to the beautiful Brandywine River Museum on Sunday mornings including this Sunday September 28th between 9:30am – 12pm. Free.
