The series features local Philly authors, performers and personalities reading both classic and new books chosen by the Free Library of Philadelphia. Will Tinicum Tim, the resident weather-soothing groundhog, see his shadow and call for six more weeks of winter? How do animals survive the winter? What tools do scientists have to predict the weather? Find out the answer during this family event at the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum. Families can also expect music, crafts, guided walks and snacks. Walks begin at 9am, and the Groundhog Burrow Parade kicks off at 12:30pm. Free.
Chinese New Year Celebration

One of Philadelphia’s oldest Chinese New Year celebrations, the daylong Chinese New Year celebration and extravaganza is held in the China Gallery—home to a renowned collection of monumental Chinese art—and throughout the Penn Museum. The whole family will enjoy traditional music and dance, tai chi and tangram workshops, a Shaolin-style Kung Fu demonstration, family gallery tours, storytelling and crafts before the day ends with a drum roll, a roar and the popular Grand Finale Lion Dance Parade. Free with museum admission $15/adults, $10 children ages 6-17, free for children five and under.
