It’s a beautiful fall weekend in Philly – get out and enjoy one of these great family festivals including the annual Harry Potter Festival in Chestnut Hill, Harvest Festival at Reading Terminal Market, and so much more!


Harvest Festival

Don’t miss the annual Harvest Festival happening at Reading Terminal Market this Saturday Oct. 21st from 10am-4pm. Filbert Street (aka Harry Ochs Way) will be closed to vehicle traffic and transformed into an urban farm with hay bales and corn stalks. Don’t miss the beer garden featuring fall brews and snacks. Kids and adults alike will have the chance to climb on an authentic farm tractor for a hay ride around the market, take a photo in a pumpkin patch, enjoy seasonal foods and treats, and listen to live music. Free.


Harry Potter Festival

The 7th Annual Chestnut Hill Harry Potter Festival returns to Germantown Avenue with more room to roam, more treats to eat, and more fun for all. With an expanded festival footprint spanning 12 blocks and new designated family-friendly activity areas (conveniently located just off of Germantown Avenue) this year’s festival promises the same wizardry wonder of years past, with the mischief managed. Free to enter. Paid activities available.


The Great Pumpkin Carve

It’s The Great Pumpkin Carve happening this weekend on Friday Oct. 20th – Saturday Oct. 21st. Head out on Saturday from 3-9pm to see the masterfully carved pumpkins on display. Located on the grounds of the Chadds Ford Historical Society’s Barn Visitors Center and presented by Chadds Ford Historical Society. Tickets $10 adults, $5 kids ages 7-17.


International Archaeology Day

Dig into history at Newlin Grist Mill as the site celebrates and participates in International Archaeology Day. This year’s International Archaeology Day coincides with the final Public Public Archaeology excavation of the year at Newlin Grist Mill. Members of the public are invited to assist professional archaeologists with excavations. Free.


Boo at the Zoo

Saturday Oct. 21 – Sunday Oct. 22

It’s the first weekend of Boo at the Zoo this Saturday Oct. 21st – Sunday Oct. 22nd. Put on your costume and set out on a trick-or-treat safari, walk through the not-so-scary Extinction Graveyard, run through the hay bale maze on Impasse Lawn, pose for pics in front of a giant pumpkin wall and enjoy seasonal treats. $25, adults; $19, kids; FREE, ages 2 & younger.


Spooky Mini Golf

Enjoy 18 holes of frightening fun in Franklin Square! Putt your way through Spooky Mini Golf with family and friends as historic Philadelphia landmarks, including Independence Hall, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Liberty Bell, and many more, turn haunted with Halloween-inspired lights, music, and surprises ($9 adults, $7 children).


Community Harvest Fest

Don’t miss the 27th Annual Community Harvest Fest at Curtis Arboretum this Sat. Oct. 21st starting at 12 Noon. Festivities include hayrides, live entertainment, a craft fair, inflatables, a food court, pumpkin decorating, sack races, vehicle displays and music. The day ends with a fireworks display after dark. Free.


Pumpkinland and Hayrides to the Witches House

Enjoy Pumpkinland at beautiful Linvilla Orchards in Media, PA. With more than 100 tons of pumpkins display, the orchard will have pumpkins of all shapes and sizes to choose from. Or take a hayride to the Witches House for a visit with a friendly witch, jokes and stories and a treat, too. Families can also enjoy live music and entertainment, pick-your-own apples, fall activities, an apple slingshot, pumpkin ring toss and lots more! Free entrance. Attractions ticketed.


Phoenixville Pumpkinfest

Pumpkinfest is a fun, free, family-friendly festival in the heart of downtown Phoenixville. The Celebrate all things pumpkin this Saturday Oct. 21st from 10:30am – 4pm. Featuring derby races, a carnival, crafts, live music, and much more! Crawl the town sampling pumpkin treats and products from local businesses, carve a mini-pumpkin, or compete in one of the contests for some great prizes. Free.


The Glow: A Jack O’Lantern Experience 

Friday Oct. 20 – Sunday Oct. 22
West Fairmount Park
Parkside Avenue
Phila., PA

The Glow: A Jack O’Lantern Experience will delight visitors as they are surrounded by thousands of intricately carved pumpkins dangling from above and along the 3-mile walk. In the Pre-Historic Park, jack o’ lantern dinosaurs stand up to 16 feet tall. Captain Jack and his band of marauders helm a 30-foot-long pirate ship, complete with skeletons and pumpkin pirates. In the pumpkin graveyard, guests will encounter black cats, ghosts and gravestones. Tickets $16-$25.
