Happy New Year, First Friday and new month, too!! it’s January and while the holiday frenzy is over, there’s still plenty of fun for families this weekend in and around Philadelphia with everything from First Friday events, to winter celebrations and more!

Disney On Ice 
Friday January 3rd – Sunday January 5th

If you haven’t seen it yet, don’t miss Disney On Ice Let’s Celebrate during its last week with shows this weekend Friday January 3rd though Sunday January 5th. Kids will be enchanted by this colossal party on ice show highlighting celebrations with your favorite Disney characters doing fabulous ice performances and of course lots of surprises and excitement too. Tickets $18-$95.

Holiday Garden Railway

The Holiday Garden Railway has its last weekend at Morris Arboretum this weekend Friday January 3rd to Sunday January 5th from 10am – 4pm. See the Holiday Garden Railway decked out in its wintery finest and enjoy wonder of the winter gardens. Free with admission. $16/adults, $7 children 3-17, children 3 and under free.

The Dinosaurs Unearthed exhibit continues at the Academy of Natural Sciences this Saturday January 4th and Sunday January 5th. Guests enjoy roaring, moving, life-size animatronic dinosaurs inside the Academy of Natural Sciences in this multi-sensory experience for dino lovers of all ages. $3 for members, $5 for non-members plus general admission to the museum ($15 for adults, $13 for kids under 13).

In the Artifact Lab: Conserving Egyptian Mummies

This unique opportunity to explore a real working laboratory at the Penn Museum features a glass enclosed conservation lab allowing visitors to see the tools of the trade and observe real conservators at work on Egyptian objects including rare paintings, ancient funerary objects and of course mummies. And twice daily, visitors can speak with a conservator (Sat. and Sun. 1pm and 3:30pm). Free with admission $10 – $15. Ages 5 and younger free.
